General Sensing is delighted to announce that – out of 3,011 entries – MedSense, has been honored with an award at the illustrious International Forum Design competition.

For 60 years, the iF Product Design Award and the iF brand has grown to become an internationally recognized symbol for outstanding achievements in design. This year, 49 industry stalwarts and design experts judged over 3,000 entries in 16 different categories, honoring entries that mirror both current trends in design and the economic benefits delivered by well-designed products.

The jury at this year’s iF Product Design Awards rewarded Gerneral Sensing’s unending crusade to combine modern design with unparalleled functionality to deliver MedSense – a product that is not only pleasing to the eye, but one that will also make a significant contribution to improving the quality of patient care in hospitals.

From the outset, General Sensing has espoused the principles of unobtrusiveness and aesthetic minimalism. These pillars of our design philosophy have come to the fore with MedSense, a hand hygiene compliance monitoring solution which integrates with any hospital setting by minimizing disruptions to workflows, while simultaneously providing healthcare workers with a treasure trove of invaluable compliance data.

MedSense and other award-winning entries from the iF Design Awards 2013 will be showcased at the iF Design Exhibition in Hannover, Germany from March 5 to March 9 at the Hannover Exhibition Center. Through May 2013, the winning entries will also be exhibited at the iF Design Exhibition at HarborCity in Hamburg, Germany. For those of you outside of Germany, starting from February 22, all iF Design Award winners will be presented digitally on the iF online exhibition website which can be found at:

About the iF Product Design Awards
For 60 years, iF has been known as a perfect mediator between the worlds of design and business. Starting in 1953 as Sonderschau formgerechter Industrie-erzeugnisse at the Hannover Exhibition Center, iF has become an international design center with its headquarters in Hannover and exhibitions in many parts of the world. The original iF Industrie Forum Design e.V. is today supported by iF International Forum Design GmbH, which organizes the iF Product Design Awards.

The iF Product Design Awards jury considered criteria such as design quality, finish, choice of materials, degree of innovation, environmental impact, functionality, ergonomics, visualization of intended use, safety, brand value and branding and aspects of universal design.
